ZERO Prostate Cancer Challenge
We’re passionate about finding a cure for prostate cancer! Thank you for making our 2012 fundraising events a great success. Whether you attended the 5K race, golf tournament, bull roast, one of our many other events, or gave a donation to help our cause; we say thank you for your support. With your help and passion, we collected $350,000 to help fight this deadly disease. To date, we have raised over $1.5 million in Baltimore alone.
ZERO-The End of Prostate Cancer, a nonprofit, is the primary recipient of the proceeds. More than 82 cents on every dollar collected benefits research, screening, awareness and advocacy activities. A large portion of the funds also stay directly in Baltimore to help educate men about this deadly disease and to provide free screenings to catch this cancer at an early stage, especially among African-American men, who have a 60 percent greater risk. Your donations also provide funding for a research scholar through the American Urological Association.
We hope you will join us for the 2013 10K, 5K and 1 Mile Fun Walk on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Towson University, Johnny Unitas Stadium. The race is part of the ZERO Prostate Cancer Challenge-the premier men’s health event series in America. Presented by Chesapeake Urology, this tight-knit community activity brings together athletes, doctors, cancer survivors and those who care about ending prostate cancer. Our goal is to find a cure for prostate cancer by funding research and providing free testing and education.
Each year more than 240,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and more than 30,000 die from the disease. The doctors and staff at Chesapeake Urology are committed to fighting this common male cancer. We hope you will join us in our fight!
